Life
This is a friendly familiar company that merit to be visited. Its immersed in an intact and beautiful landscape, quite far from the usual touristic routes. Dario Sciolla founded his company in the 1990. He is a lowly winegrower, animated by a big passion who started a little and original wine production. His daughter Chiara cares the commercial and administrative part and his father Giuseppe, now 93 years old, cant stay away from his vineyards.
Vineyards
We are in the southern land of the Dogliani denomination, near the border with the Langhe Monregalesi, where vineyards are close to woods and fields, hazel groves and unpopulated villages. In clear days you see the alpine arc surrounding this coutry landscape. The soils, calcareous and white, are suitable for the dolcetto cultivation, such as the altitude, 500 meters. The merlot, otherwise, was planted on deeper fields, too fertile for the dolcetto.
Wines
The ancient cellar was restructured and now holds big barrels for the wine refining. The Dogliani San Bernardo 2010 has got an elegant and lively taste, very fruity, intense and deliciuous, with young tannins. The Dogliani 2011 has got a really good essence and density. Its dense and dark with a fruity espression. The Langhe Dolcetto 2011 is very agreeable, slender, light and definite. The Superboum 2008 was not produced. Otherwise the Diavolisanti 2008 is very good and modern. In this wine the dolcetto is accompanied by the merlot, aged in barrique. Its an immediate wine, but never banal, with good softness and depth. Very interesting is the Langhe doc Bianco 2011 that has got a good structure and excellent upsurge.
